Over 24 years ago I was diagnosed with Lactose Intolerance. Dairy products were removed from my diet. Years later I discovered the enzyme Lactase that allowed me to add some dairy foods back into my diet. Over the past 10 years my digestive problems increased and I learned that there were other digestive enzymes on the market. I began to experiment and was using 2-4 capsules of digestive enzymes plus Lactase with every meal just so that I could digest food without the typical gas and diarrhea. I spent some time with a general care doctor and went through a battery of test that came up negative. I came to the point where I had removed many good foods from my diet including many vegetables and meats. My ability to digest foods was continuing to decline and I had lost all hope to find a cure. Over the years I had also grown more and more sluggish throughout the day and was having difficulty sleeping. I did not realize these were connected to my diet.
After 1 month of being on supplements and choosing to radically alter my diet, my digestive problems had almost completely disappeared. So we began to work on the “sleep disorder” and my experience of growing tired after meals or general lack of energy. We discovered that my blood sugar levels were very much out of balance and began to work on those along with the digestive disorders. After several months on supplements and sticking to my new diet my “tired spells” have almost completely disappeared, I have more energy than before, and my digestion continues to be in good condition.
